WSCSMBA operates two Leagues during the year - the main league being the Winter League which runs from the September through to April and a Summer Three's League. The Winter League consists of six Divisions which are split into 'zones'. There are two divisions in the 'County Wide Zone' and a further two divisions in each of the two 'Regional Zones' - being the North East and South West zones. There are either 6 or 7 teams in each division. Promotion and relegation operates between the divisions in the 'regional zones' and to and from the 'countywide zone'. Full details are contained in the League Rules. Fixtures are played both 'home' and 'away' and consist of two teams of four players each playing 2 woods for 21 ends. Teams arrange their own dates for fixtures and most teams play fixtures at weekends - however matches are sometimes played during the week. Two points are awarded to the team winning each of the two games with an additional two points being awarded to the team with the highest overall shot difference from the aggregate of the two games. The Summer Threes League is played to a different format with each team comprising of six players who initially play as two triples and then split the teams down to play as two Singles followed by two Pairs. The Singles games are played with four woods and all others with 2 woods. Each discipline is played over 11 ends. Two points are awarded for each match making an initial total of 12 with four match points then be added to the team with the highest aggregate shots. A smaller number of team play in the Summer Three's League and each team is only played against once - with some matches at home and others away. |
