| Inter County League | |
|
| The Association has entered
both a Premier and an 'A' Team in the Winter League, in addition to
this the 'B' Team will be playing friendly matches against several
counties during the winter season. The dates of
all matches are shown in the County Diary. Results of
these matches will be found on this website. Due to a
change in the format for the Summer League and lack of support, no
team is currently entered in that Competition. Each team comprises of 20 players grouped as two singles playing fifteen ends, two pairs playing 15 ends, two triples playing 11 ends and two fours playing nine ends. Each player will use two bowls except for the singles players who will use four. A match will consist of two playing sessions morning and afternoon, with a lunch break between sessions. The format and scoring system has been changed for the commencement of the Winter 2008-9 Season. Each session will still be split into two rounds of games; but the first round will now comprise of two Singles and two Pairs and the second round will now be two Triples and two Fours. After lunch the pattern will be repeated but with all teams playing alternative opponents and using different mats. Two points will be awarded for each individual game won, with one point each for a drawn game and with 16 games this allows for 32 points to be available. The previous scoring system then allowed a further 4 points for the team with the highest overall shots total, making a total of 36 points . The revised scoring now allows for 2 points for the overall highest shots total IN EACH DISCIPLINE - so instead of just an additional 4 points for the team with the overall total shots this has been replaced by two points for the team with the highest total shots in the Singles a further 2 points for the team with the highest total shots in the Pairs, and the same for the Triples and Fours. Obviously these points are shared 1-1 if the shot totals are equal in any discipline. An additional 8 points are therefore on offer which now makes the total points available FORTY per match. The team plus reserves are picked by the County Selection Committee, this comprises of a Chairman appointed by the Management Committee, two selectors elected at the AGM and Captains of the teams. In order to assist the selectors, County Trials are held and all ESMBA registered bowlers are eligible to enter these. The Team Captains are elected by the players prior to the first match of the season. Inter County home matches are currently played on a Saturday at the Six Villages Sports Centre, Westergate, West Sussex. |
