RULES  FOR  COUNTY  COMPETITIONS

 
Entry Forms : West Sussex  County Championship Competitions and National Qualifiers do not have a limited entry. Other competitions may have a limited entry and this should be stated on the entry form.
Entry forms to give the closing date for entry to the competition. No entries will be accepted after the closing date.
 
Competition Fees : The competition fee will be fixed in agreement with the Management  Committee to cover all costs incurred in running the competition.
This fee to be paid at the time of entering.
When a team withdraws from the competition after the closing date no refund will be given.
If a team withdraws before the closing date the Association will refund the competition fee provided an acceptable  reason has been given.
 
Competition Day Registration :  All players should arrive 30 minutes before the published starting time. Any player who has not registered 15 minutes prior to the starting time will not normally be allowed to enter the competition and will also not be allowed to enter that competition in the following year.  This will not apply if a player has informed the Competition Secretary of their likely late arrival and given a valid reason for their lateness.
Any player who fails to turn up for a competition will automatically be banned from the corresponding competition next year unless an acceptable reason is provided to the Management Committee.
 
Rules of Play :    The rules of play will be those laid down by the Competition Secretary.  County Championships and National Qualifiers follow ESMBA rules.  In County Championships there shall be a round robin stage with groups of three, four or five, followed by a knockout stage. The knockout stage to be the best four, eight or sixteen from the round robin stages.
 
Competition Draws :    All competitions will have the draw taking place on the day of the competition.  Each skip will draw a number and that will determine their group in the round robin stage of the competition. One person will supervise the drawing of the numbers and the Competition Secretary will write down the information on the blank draw sheet.
Each team will receive a copy of the format of the competition when they have drawn their number. This draw to take place 15 minutes prior to the start of play.
 
Dress Code :     All competitions follow the ESMBA dress code.   All members of a team entered in any county run competition must be in the same uniform.
Should a player contravene the dress code they will get a warning for the first offence. This will be backed by a letter to the player and their club. On the second offence the player will be allowed to play but will be banned from all future county competitions until an assurance is given from the player’s club that the rule will be observed in  future. These circumstances will also be communicated to the player’s club by letter.
All members of a team entered for the National Qualifier rounds must be in the same uniform.
 
County Championships:   For the purpose of this rule the County Championships are Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours.   Entries will be restricted to registered players of a Club.   Social members and mixed teams from more than one club will not be allowed to enter.
 
Bowls Stickers :    County stickers must not be used in County competitions or National Qualifier rounds with the exception of singles.    All members of a team must have the same stickers on their woods or none at all.
 
Winter League : The league organiser shall be responsible for dividing the League into sections.
New teams will initially be placed in the section appropriate to their geographical location, they shall enter the lowest division for that area.
The Management Committee shall have the sole control over the number of teams entered into the league and the final format of the league.
All clubs in the League shall be given a copy of the current league rules and the format  so that fixtures can be made.
 
Summer League : The league organiser shall be responsible for deciding which matches are played at home, every effort to be made to have teams playing opponents at home one year and away the following year.   All teams in the League shall be given a copy of the current Summer league rules and the format so that fixtures can be made.
 
Knockout Cup : The knockout cup draw shall be made by the organiser at a Management Committee meeting or on some other suitable occasion.  Dates by which each round shall be played shall be agreed with the Management Committee before the draw is published.  All clubs entering the competition shall be given a copy of the draw and the rules.
