Report:  19 teams were split into 3 groups of five and one group of four and after the 'round robin' stage 16 teams progressed to the KO Stages.

In the first of the Quarter Final matches a team from The Martlets skipped by Mel Lillywhite, beat a Lavant team skipped by Peter Whale 8-2.   The second Q/F game saw a team from Chanctonbury skipped by Ben Haulkham lose 4-8 to a team from Bognor Goodwoods skipped by Brian Mills.

In the 3rd Q/F a further Chanctonbury team skipped by Dan Blackman - in a close game which went to an extra end - finally beat a team from Comptons skipped by Seton Wood.   The last Q/F resulted in a team from Clapham and Patching skipped by Trevor Harman narrowly beating a team from Upper Beeding skipped by Jean Armour-Milne 6-4.

In one Semi Final Nigel Short, Marc Lancaster, Kyle McGowan and Mel Lillywhite (The Martlets) beat Gwen Coombes, Daniel Lovell, Alan Nutt and Brian Mills (B Goodwoods) 7-4.    In the other Semi, Carol Hawkins, Bernie Deeble, Keith Hawkins and Dan Blackman (Chanctonbury) convincingly beat Helen Wildman, Trish Halford, Alex Ayre and Trevor Harman by 11-1.

The final stage was therefore set for a clash between Chanctonbury and The Martlets and the few remaining spectators eagerly awaited a classic game.   Unfortunately as is often  the case - this was not to be.    Despite the best efforts of the players from The Martlets, Chanctonbury scored 1/2/1/3/1 on the first five ends to lead by 8-0 with two ends to go and the game was effectively over.   The Martlets scored a 4 on the sixth to ensure the last end needed to be played but could only manage 1 on the final end to lose 8-5.

Chanctonbury therefore became the County Fours Champions to add to the Triples title they had already won this season.

Once again some good bowling with the only downside being the length of time the competition took - with it finishing at about 18:30.
